My website was created out of a desire to share my experiences with other women that are facing a battle with cancer. Most of us in that club are mentally ill-prepared for the upcoming battle. We might be aware of the spiritual growth potential that a cancer diagnosis offers, but might need someone to help point the way. I hope that by opening my soul and thoughts to the world that you gain some strength. That one of my experiences, or as a whole, causes you to understand what a wonderful life we all share and you too become enlightened by cancer.
The website takes you from my initial diagnosis to my last round of chemo. This blog picks things up at that point. In the future, all of my journal entries will be posted to this blog. Basically, the website was starting to get too big and we had to impliment something to allow additional entries.
The added benefit of a blog is that you can post comments to my entries, which enables us to interact on a level that isn't offered by a traditional website. I really look forward to your thoughts, comments and ideas.
Peace to you all,
Cathie

WOW! I remember reading the first few pages last year on our way to Kentucky...your last weekend before getting your port placed and starting chemo. What an amazing journey you've (we've) been on since then!
This is a reflection of how I'm feeling right now..
To me you are like the rising sun...even if I don't see you when I awake, I know you're coming soon.
You are bright. You light up the darkness with your smile. You know just how to make me smile...even if it's by doing something absolutely silly that half embarrasses me. (When you put on a show at one of my young teen birthday parties...hair in rollers and that ratty pink robe on!)
You bring me warmth. Like the sun warms the Earth, you warm my soul. You don't even have to do or say anything...just knowing you're there is all I need.
You help me grow. For some reason I remember a song you wrote years and years ago for a tree planting ceremony..."As a seed we've all become to be alive a grow so strong. Just like a tree, we started small, bent in the breeze, but still grew tall." Thank you for helping me to grow strong and into the loving, nurturing mother that I am today.
Words cannot express how proud I am of you for enduring what you have with the attitude that you have. I know that Rand is the only person who saw most of the bad, and I am so thankful that you have him in your life to absorb the negative and help you turn it into positive. I admire your strength and determination to see the brighter side.
I love you so very much!

Cathie,
I have spent my entire evening reading your wonderful inspiring life experience. I have been touched just by being your assistant at Dr. Reese's office at your visits. I admire your courage and pray that if I were ever inflicted with this devil called cancer that I too could be as strong and determined as I have read and experienced through you in your very personal journey. The irony of all this to me is that just this evening after starting to read your journey I received a phone call. I was probably half way through. (You gave me this website address today) Today my next door neighbor, Kristy, who I thought was on vacation was actually in the hospital since Friday. She was diagnosed with leukemia after seeing the doc for fatigue and an ear infection. She is 33 years old and has a precious little girl who is three, her name is Natalie. I will share your address with her and I gave it to everyone @ work as promised. Lisa at my office that checks you in has a best girlfriend who is going through treatments for breast cancer. If you ever wondered if this site would touch any or many lives you need not wonder anymore. Your light is shining brightly into all of our lives by your journey. Your experiences and ours with the many lives of patients like you who have endured and overcome and those who have endured and were taken make our lives richer because of your victories or defeats.
Thank you Cathie for sharing, for your upbeat personality, your caring soul and your smile. I am thankful for your acquaintance that began many years back by a brief daily hello in the garage to realizing I was your assistant at Dr. Reese's office. You have added a new attitude to my life to share in my job, my home and my journey no matter what it might be. I am truly thankful for you and want you to know I am a fan of yours.
